After several lockdowns and creeping consequences for the economy, the Dutch parliament approved legislation to establish work-from-home as a legal right. The country, thus, became one of the first countries to grant remote working flexibility by law.

Although the legislation still needs to be approved by the Dutch senate before it enters force, it can be already considered a breakthrough in the employees' fight for the right not to return to office amid new waves of pandemic potentially appearing in the EU.

The law forces employers to consider employee requests to work from home as long as their professions allow it which means that the "remote work window" will not close after the pandemic.

Telework is here to stay. Even if Elon Musk does not want that.
