Uber has announced plans to bring electric air taxis to Dubai through a new partnership with Joby Aviation, introducing Uber Air powered by Joby with a targeted launch in 2026.

According to the companies, flights on Joby’s aircraft will be bookable directly through the Uber app. Users will simply enter their destination in the “Where to?” field, and if the route qualifies, the air taxi option will appear alongside standard ride options. The booking will automatically bundle the full journey, including ground transfers to and from the vertiports via Uber Black.

Joby’s electric aircraft are designed to carry four passengers and will be operated by certified pilots. The vehicles use vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) technology and are capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 mph (about 321 km/h) with a maximum range of roughly 100 miles (around 160 km) on a single charge.

Uber has not yet disclosed exact launch routes, pricing, or the precise service start date. Joby is currently in the final stages of certification for commercial operations in the United States. Longer term, the partners plan to expand the air taxi network beyond the UAE, with Japan and the United Kingdom among the potential next markets.
