Twitch is testing a long-awaited rewind feature for live broadcasts.

The company announced the update on X (formerly Twitter). The rewind function will work much like on other streaming platforms, and some users can already try it out in the web version of Twitch.

There are, however, a few caveats: the feature won’t be available on DJ channels due to copyright concerns, and streamers themselves will need to enable rewind and pause options in their channel settings.

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said this is a feature he’s been eager to see:

It keeps viewers connected as they pause or rewin.

He added that the core idea is simple: viewers joining a stream late can catch up by rewinding and then jump back to the live broadcast.
