Taiwanese manufacturer Transcend is facing major disruptions in the supply of SSDs and memory cards due to a severe shortage of NAND chips. TechPowerUp reports this with reference to Korean analyst Jukan.
Since October, Transcend has not received NAND shipments from key suppliers Samsung and SanDisk. Scheduled deliveries have been repeatedly postponed, significantly affecting product availability.
Memory chip prices have already surged by 50–100% and continue to rise at a rapid pace. According to the company, it was notified of yet another price increase just last week, adding further pressure on manufacturers.
Transcend says the primary cause of the shortage is the aggressive expansion of data centers by major cloud providers. Memory manufacturers are prioritizing these clients, leaving long-standing partners without essential components.
The company expects the situation to remain difficult for the next three to five months. The worst constraints are forecast for Q4 2025 and Q1 2026.
