Rockstar Games has agreed to fulfill the wish of a terminally ill fan from Canada by giving him the opportunity to play Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of its official release.
A relative of a Ubisoft Toronto employee, Anthony Armstrong, reached out to Rockstar via LinkedIn, explaining that a member of his family is a longtime fan of the Grand Theft Auto series. According to doctors, the man has between six and twelve months to live due to cancer and may not survive until the game’s public launch. Armstrong asked whether his relative could be allowed to play GTA VI before release.

The fan was willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement and lives close to Rockstar Games’ Toronto office in Oakville, making a private session technically feasible.
A few days later, Armstrong said that a Rockstar representative had contacted him with “great news.” While he did not disclose details, he thanked everyone for their support, indirectly confirming that the request had been approved.
We spoke to them today and got great news. Thats all I can really say, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart
Rockstar previously announced that Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed until November 2026. The game was originally scheduled to launch in fall 2025.
