Telegram has released its first update of 2026, bringing several notable new features to the platform.

AI Summaries

Users can now instantly switch to a short summary of long posts in channels. Telegram says the feature is designed to help users catch up on news faster and stay productive.

Articles opened in Instant View will also automatically display an AI-generated condensed version at the top of the page. Telegram noted that the summaries are generated using open-source models running on Cocoon:

“The new AI summaries are powered by open-source models running on Cocoon — a decentralized network designed to maximize privacy,” the company said.

New iOS Design

Telegram has also completed a redesign of its iOS app based on Apple’s Liquid Glass design language. The visual effects are now applied across all sections of the app.

The company added that users can control visual effects to optimize battery life and performance in Settings under Power Saving.

Telegram did not announce the large-scale Android redesign that has been spotted in beta builds. The company is likely still refining the interface before a wider rollout.
