Telegram has released a major update introducing a built-in AI-powered text editor, significantly redesigned polls, support for Live Photos, and the ability to create bots through other bots.

Here’s a breakdown of all the new features.

AI text editor

A built-in editor has appeared directly in the message input field. It can instantly fix grammar, rewrite text in a different style, or translate messages into another language. All of this runs on open-source models.

The new AI text editor appears directly in the message input field and allows users to rewrite text, fix grammar or translate messages instantly. Telegram offers several preset styles, including Formal, Short, Corp, Zen, Biblical and Viking. Styles can also be combined with translation. For example, users can translate a message into another language while applying a specific tone.

The feature uses Telegram’s Cocoon Network, which processes requests in a private environment without accessing user data. The editor becomes available after typing more than three lines of text, with an AI button appearing above the send icon.

10+ new features for polls

Polls have received a significant upgrade. Users can now attach media, locations and descriptions to questions, while participants can suggest their own answers in active polls.

Other new options include:

  • Showing voters next to each option
  • Preventing revoting
  • Shuffling answers for each user
  • Adding poll timers
  • Hiding results until voting ends

Creators can also view results without voting. In group chats with open voting, new responses trigger notifications showing which option was selected. All polls are now grouped in a dedicated tab for easier access.

Live and motion photos

Telegram now supports iOS Live Photos and Android Motion Photos.

Users can send animated images with three playback modes: Live, Loop and Bounce. Playback mode can be selected through the media editor.

Managed bots

Telegram Bot API now allows one bot to create and configure other bots.

In practice, this means users no longer need to deal with code or manually configure bots through BotFather.

Instead, users can ask an AI bot builder, describe the task, and it will create a new bot, configure its behavior, and launch it. The entire interaction happens in a regular chat within a few messages. The feature arrives amid growing interest in AI agents.

Document scanner for iOS

Telegram for iOS now includes a built-in document scanner. Users can scan pages, combine images into a single file and export them as PDF. The scanner automatically removes backgrounds, crops pages and allows manual adjustments.

Warnings for unofficial apps

User profiles of those using certain unofficial Telegram clients will now display a warning indicating that messages sent in chats with such users may be less secure.
