Telegram says its recent removal from Apple's App Store was triggered by prohibited content shared by a single user, Reuters reports.

The messaging app was temporarily removed from the App Store globally after Apple discovered child sexual abuse material on the platform.

Telegram commented on the removal on Tuesday, saying the prohibited material had been distributed by just one user.

A similar incident occurred in 2018, when Apple temporarily removed Telegram from the App Store over what the company described at the time as "inappropriate content."

The app returned to the store after Telegram took measures to address the issue. Following the incident, the company also strengthened its systems for detecting and removing prohibited content.
