Steam has reached a new all-time high in concurrent users.
On January 11, 2026, at 14:20 UTC, more than 42 million people were online on the platform simultaneously. According to Steam’s official statistics, the peak reached 42,020,941 users, while SteamDB reported an even slightly higher figure of 42,042,778.
The previous record had been set just a week earlier on January 4, during the winter sale, when concurrent users peaked at 41.8 million. At that time, the platform also recorded a near-record number of active players, with around 13.4 million users in-game simultaneously. This time, in-game concurrency reached 13.1 million, which did not set a new record but remains a very strong result.
The most popular titles at the time of the new peak were Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Arc Raiders and Apex Legends also made it into the top five.
