Spotify has significantly upgraded its free service, giving users more control over how they listen to music, according to the company’s official press release.

Free users can now pick and play any track with the new Pick & Play feature. They can also search and instantly play songs, as well as listen directly to tracks shared by friends.

The platform now lets users create personalized playlists with recommendations based on their listening habits. The more music you play and like, the smarter the suggestions become.

A new feature allows users to design custom playlist covers directly in the app. Images, colors, text effects, and graphics can all be added to reflect the playlist’s mood.

One standout addition is daylist — a playlist that automatically adapts to the time of day and the listener’s mood. The track selection refreshes throughout the day based on listening patterns.

Meanwhile, Discover Weekly continues to deliver a fresh, personalized mix of tracks every week. The algorithm analyzes your tastes and suggests music you might enjoy.

Lyrics are also available with real-time sync, and users can share favorite lines straight to social media from within the app.

All these updates are now rolling out globally, designed to make Spotify’s free tier a more complete and engaging way to experience the platform.
