Tech blogger Daniel Rotar reported a serious malfunction with Samsung’s Galaxy Ring after a swollen battery caused the device to clamp tightly around his finger. He shared details of the incident on his social channels.

The issue occurred just before a flight, forcing Rotar to cancel his trip and seek medical attention. As his finger began to swell, attempts to remove the ring with soap and water failed.

Doctors eventually managed to free the device using ice and lubricant. Examination revealed that the battery had expanded inside the titanium frame, which prevented outward expansion and created intense pressure. The interior of the ring showed visible deformation, with plastic components partially detached from the casing.

This is not the first report of Galaxy Ring battery failures. Previous cases surfaced on Reddit, citing swollen cells, though none had been as severe. Rotar said he has no plans to wear smart rings again.
