Proton launches Proton Sheets, a privacy-focused alternative to Google Sheets

Proton has introduced Proton Sheets, a new spreadsheet tool integrated into its cloud storage service, Proton Drive. The feature is available free of charge to all users with a Proton account.

The company emphasizes that Sheets uses end-to-end encryption, ensuring that no third party, including Proton itself, can access the spreadsheets or the data stored inside them.

This approach sets the service apart from most mainstream office suites, where data is typically stored unencrypted on provider servers or may be processed by their algorithms.

Proton Sheets supports essential spreadsheet capabilities, including:

• entering and using formulas
• importing CSV and XLS files
• real-time collaborative editing

Proton says it intentionally opted for a familiar design to lower the learning curve for new users and make the transition to the service as seamless as possible.
