OpenAI is planning to combine its browser, ChatGPT app and Codex into a single desktop application.
The move is aimed at simplifying how users interact with OpenAI’s products, according to CNBC. The project is being led by OpenAI’s head of applications, Fidji Simo.
The company is developing a desktop app with advanced agent capabilities that would allow users to delegate a wide range of tasks to AI, including writing code and analysing data.
OpenAI announced the plan internally following a meeting led by Simo, who said the company “is "orienting aggressively" towards high-productivity use cases.”
"OpenAI rocketed into the mainstream following the launch of its ChatGPT chatbot in 2022, <…> The company released a flurry of new products and experiences in recent months, including its Codex app and its browser," the outlet notes.
