Sora 2 is now open without an invite code — but not for everyone

OpenAI has made its Sora 2 video-generation model available to select users without requiring an invitation code. The model is capable of producing more realistic videos, now complete with audio.

The company says access will only be available for a “limited time only,” though it hasn’t specified how long that window will last.

• Currently, iOS users with IP addresses in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea can use Sora 2 without a code.
• OpenAI has also expanded iOS app access to Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

The update also brings improvements to the Cameo feature, allowing users to generate videos not only with humans but also with animated or cartoon-style characters — even pets or favorite toys can now be brought to life.
