According to The Verge, OpenAI has begun working on a social media platform focused on image and content generation within ChatGPT.

The project is still in its early stages, but a working prototype already exists internally, featuring a content feed and the ability to share AI-generated images. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is reportedly collecting direct feedback on the initiative.

It’s unclear whether the service will launch as a standalone app or be integrated into ChatGPT. A spokesperson declined to comment. Sources say the goal is to let users easily share high-quality AI content. The idea was partly inspired by Elon Musk’s Grok integration with X — a move that reportedly sparked some envy among competitors.

The platform could also provide OpenAI with access to valuable user-generated data to further train its AI models — a strategy already employed by Meta and X.
