OpenAI is planning to transform ChatGPT into a fully featured super app, according to a report by the Financial Times.

According to the report, the platform will move beyond its current role as a standard chatbot. The company is reportedly placing its main focus on building a universal AI agent that can independently complete real-world tasks, including actions such as booking tickets and managing other everyday processes.

A large-scale platform update is expected to begin rolling out in the coming weeks. The new ChatGPT interface will integrate the company's Codex coding tools and built-in image generation, alongside a growing set of applications developed by external partners.

A senior OpenAI executive told the Financial Times that "Chat is dead," signaling a clear shift in the company's product strategy. The new direction centers on developing a single personal assistant capable of helping users across a wide range of activities and operating consistently across all of their devices.

The FT notes that the redesign is expected to significantly increase OpenAI's revenue ahead of its planned initial public offering in 2026. The company is currently valued at roughly $730 billion.
