OpenAI prepares TikTok rival with AI-generated videos

OpenAI is developing its own social app for short-form video powered by the Sora 2 generator, Wired reports.

The project is positioned as an alternative to TikTok, but focused entirely on AI-generated content. The app will allow users to publish vertical clips up to 10 seconds long.

Navigation will feel familiar — swipe through the feed, with a side menu for likes, comments, and remixes. A recommendation algorithm will curate a personalized “For You” section. Uploading personal photos or videos from a phone won’t be supported, only clips created by the AI.

According to Wired, the app has already entered internal testing at OpenAI and has received “overwhelmingly positive feedback.”
