Elon Musk’s xAI and social platform X (formerly Twitter) have filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI, Bloomberg reports.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, accuses the two companies of unfair competition and collusion. The plaintiffs argue that Apple’s integration of ChatGPT into iOS effectively eliminates user choice and undermines open competition.

According to Musk’s companies, the integration was designed to preserve Apple’s dominance in both the smartphone and generative AI markets. The lawsuit also alleges that the App Store manipulates app rankings, artificially pushing down competitors to OpenAI’s products.

This comes shortly after reports that Musk’s Neuralink is about to face new competition. OpenAI is preparing to invest millions into a brain–computer interface startup, positioning itself in the same field.
