Car Key enables users to lock, unlock, and start their vehicles using their iPhone or Apple Watch, providing a convenient and digital alternative to traditional key.
The Car Keys are securely stored in the Wallet app and can also be shared with other iPhone users. Even if the iPhone loses its charge, recent models can still utilize the Car Key functionality.
Lotus, which had been previously rumored, seems to be preparing to roll out Car Key support, according to evidence shared on Twitter.
Mercedes-Benz has officially announced support for its E-Class lineup, allowing drivers to start and lock the vehicle by simply carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. Key sharing is also possible, granting access to family members or friends through various digital channels.
The Digital Vehicle Key offered by Mercedes-Benz can be shared with up to 16 people and is easily added to the recipient's Apple Wallet via AirDrop, iMessage, or other messaging services.
