iPhone 16 Pro could feature 20% brighter display

According to a recent rumor from the Weibo leaker "Instant Digital," the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro may come with a display that is up to 20% brighter for typical SDR content.

Instant Digital claimed in a recent post that the iPhone 16 Pro will boast up to 1,200 nits of typical SDR brightness, marking a 20% increase compared to current models. However, the peak HDR brightness is expected to remain the same at 1,600 nits.

While Instant Digital's track record with Apple rumors is mixed, the leaker has accurately predicted several details in the past, including the launch of the Yellow iPhone 14 in 2023, the frosted back glass of the iPhone 15 series, and various features of the Apple Watch Series 9 and iPad lineup.

If the rumor holds true, the iPhone 16 Pro's increased brightness could significantly enhance the viewing experience for users. The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to debut in the fall, featuring larger displays, an all-new "Capture" button, the powerful A18 chip, and other enhancements.
