Huawei has made an official announcement of the FreeBuds 5, which features a truly unique design.

These earbuds without wires have an unexpected amount of technology packed into a unique package. The FreeBuds 5 have an unconventional shape resembling a water droplet, with a speaker grill that lacks a silicone tip, similar to the original AirPods. Huawei claims that the design accommodates the ear's contours, with a larger surface area for skin contact that reduces pressure on the ear canal. Consequently, the earbuds feel light and almost disappear after a short while of use.

The FreeBuds 5's internal components that produce sound can spread out because of their ample profile, creating a noise barrier that enhances the audio's purity. According to Huawei, separating the speaker, battery module, and circuit board improves charging speed, leading to up to 30 hours of playtime with ANC turned off.

The FreeBuds 5 also boasts "ultra-magnet" drivers that deliver bass with a minimum frequency of 16 Hz. Additionally, the response time has increased by around 50% compared to the previous FreeBuds model. These earbuds offer a customized sound experience that adapts to your ear canal shape in real-time during playback. With the Hi-Res Audio certification, the FreeBuds 5 promises a high-quality audio experience, although the extent of its greatness remains to be seen.

The FreeBuds 5's ANC relies on three microphones and takes the user's ear canal shape information into account to create a personalized experience. Huawei's deep neural network algorithm supports this advanced ANC feature.
