Chinese tech giant Huawei has surpassed Apple to claim global leadership in the smart wearables market. According to IDC’s latest report, Huawei maintained its lead over Apple throughout the first three quarters of 2024 (Q1–Q3).

Currently, Huawei ranks as the top supplier of wearable devices, far outpacing former market leaders. IDC data reveals that the company shipped 23.6 million smartwatches and fitness bands globally during the first three quarters of this year, capturing a 16.9% share of the global wearable tech market.

Huawei’s success was fueled by the launch of new products in Q3, including the GT5 and GT5 Pro smartwatches, as well as the second-generation blood pressure monitor, the Watch D2. Since the start of 2024, Huawei has consistently grown its shipments of wrist-worn devices across the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. This growth is attributed to efforts in localization and strengthening the brand’s global reputation.
