Google introduces Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite AI model

Google has released the stable versions of its Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash models, and introduced a new 2.5 Flash-Lite model. The announcement was made in the company’s official blog.

Here’s what’s new:

• The 2.5 Flash and Pro models are now out of preview and have replaced the previous 1.5 Flash and Pro versions.
• Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite is described as the most lightweight and efficient model in the family.
• Flash-Lite supports thought-mode, connects to Google Search, and can process files as input.

The preview version of Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite is already available in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. The now-stable 2.5 Flash and 2.5 Pro models are also accessible in these environments, and can be used via the Gemini app.
