Google has introduced new artificial intelligence features in the Chrome browser, powered by Gemini and Nano Banana, in India, New Zealand, and Canada.

The update brings powerful AI capabilities to Chrome to help users quickly find and use information for everyday tasks, work, and learning.

Google also announced support for more than 50 additional languages, including Hindi, French, and Spanish. The features are built on Gemini 3.1 and will initially be available in these regions on desktop and iOS. On Android, users can activate Gemini while using Chrome or other apps by holding the power button.

New features

  • Chat with an AI assistant without switching tabs. Gemini in Chrome is now available to users on Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus devices in India, New Zealand, and Canada.
  • Integration with popular Google services. The AI assistant can connect with apps such as Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube, allowing users to schedule meetings, check locations, or ask questions about videos.
  • Email creation inside the browser. Gemini can help users compose and send emails from Gmail directly from Chrome’s sidebar without leaving the current page.
  • Nano Banana 2 image editor. The tool allows users to transform images found on the web without downloading files or opening a new tab.
  • Security by design. Chrome will be able to detect suspicious page actions and request confirmation before sending emails or adding events to the calendar.

Google says the new AI features will gradually expand to more regions and languages throughout the year.
