Elon Musk has reportedly threatened to step down as Tesla’s CEO unless he receives a $1 trillion compensation package, according to Electrek.

The claim surfaced during an episode of the Quick Charge podcast, where host Joe Boras joked that General Motors CEO Mary Barra could replace Musk, calling his role at Tesla a “part-time job.”

Meanwhile, Tesla has been running ads on X, encouraging shareholders to vote in favor of his massive pay deal. The final decision will rest with the company’s board.

Industry analysts note that Tesla faces mounting pressure from competitors in the EV market. This month, leasing deals on electric vehicles have become increasingly aggressive, with models like the Hyundai IONIQ starting at $189 per month.
