French prosecutors have issued summonses to X owner Elon Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino, according to a statement published on the prosecutor’s office website.

The questioning is scheduled for April 20, 2026. Additional X employees are expected to be interviewed as witnesses between April 20 and April 24. The summonses are linked to searches conducted at X’s offices on February 3.

The investigative actions are part of a broader inquiry launched in January 2025 by the cybercrime unit of the Paris prosecutor’s office.

The investigation focuses on the operation of the AI system Grok and involves multiple alleged criminal offenses. These include complicity in the distribution of child sexual abuse material, the creation of sexual deepfakes, Holocaust denial, and fraudulent data extraction.

In January 2026, the European Commission also opened a formal investigation into X. The move followed allegations that the Grok chatbot had been used to generate sexually explicit content involving minors.
