Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a law establishing Dubai Media Council to enhance its media sector as a regional and global hub.

The law establishing the media council heralds a new phase of media industry development in the emirate, said Sheikh Ahmed, Council’s Chairman.

The council will support the media in generating high-quality content, develop Dubai’s media strategy and enhance strategic relations with local, regional and international media organisations. Additionally, it will be able to establish new companies — either alone or in partnership with a third party — and invest or acquire media companies within the country or abroad.
