ChatGPT now supports collaborative work through a new feature called Shared Projects.
OpenAI first introduced Shared Projects in September 2025, initially rolling it out to business subscribers. As of October 24, the feature is available to all users.
Shared Projects allow multiple people to work together inside the same ChatGPT workspace. The setup is similar to how Google Docs handles shared access — a project can be edited by anyone who has the link, depending on the selected permissions.

To create a shared project, users can open the ChatGPT mobile app and select New Project. After naming the project and configuring its memory settings, a Share button appears.
There are two access levels: Invite Only or Anyone with the Link. A shared link can be copied and sent to teammates.
Each project maintains its own memory. ChatGPT stores context and details inside that project, but does not access personal chats outside of it. Sensitive information remains contained within the shared workspace.
There are some limitations. Real-time collaborative editing is not supported, only one participant can interact with the project at a time.
File upload limits also depend on the subscription tier:
Projects are stored indefinitely; items moved to the trash are permanently deleted after 30 days.
OpenAI says integration with third-party platforms is planned. Over time, Shared Projects is expected to support Google Drive, Slack, Notion, and GitHub.
