OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced upcoming changes to ChatGPT that will make the chatbot more human and include adult content features. The update was revealed in a post on his X account.
In recent months, ChatGPT’s responses have become more restrained due to stricter safety algorithms. Altman said the company now has new tools that will allow for greater personalization and flexibility in tone.
A new version of the app is expected to roll out in the coming weeks, introducing an option to switch back to the earlier conversational style, a friendlier format with emojis similar to what was used in the older GPT-4o model.
Altman did not specify whether the feature would be based on GPT-4o or GPT-5 but expressed hope that the update would feel even better than before.
In December, OpenAI will also introduce full age verification inside the app. Adult users will be able to enable erotic content, though Altman did not elaborate on what exactly falls under the company’s new “treat adult users like adults” principle.
