Apple will likely manufacture its upcoming iPhone 20 — a major redesign marking the device’s 20th anniversary — at its factories in China, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Set for release in 2027, the iPhone 20 is expected to introduce significant changes across the entire lineup. Gurman reports that the new models will be highly complex, featuring new components and production techniques that are better suited to China’s advanced manufacturing infrastructure.
This comes despite earlier reports that Apple aimed to diversify its supply chain to avoid U.S. tariffs on Chinese-made goods — including a plan to shift all iPhone production for the U.S. market to India by the end of 2026.
Gurman also noted that Apple has never launched an entirely new iPhone design outside of China during a first production cycle. While details remain scarce, the anniversary model is expected to feature an all-glass design.
