On March 2, Apple introduced the iPhone 17e. The updated model keeps the same external design but comes with refreshed hardware.

The device features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2532 × 1170, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1200 nits. The screen is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 glass, which Apple says is three times more scratch-resistant and reduces glare.

  • The phone is powered by the 6-core A19 chip built on a 3 nm process, though it includes four GPU cores instead of five as in the iPhone 17.
  • It comes with 8 GB of RAM and either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage.
  • Apple also added the new C1X cellular modem, which the company claims is twice as fast as the C1 in the iPhone 16e.
  • The 48 MP main camera (ƒ/1.6) supports next-generation portrait mode, 2× optical zoom, and 4K Dolby Vision video recording.
  • MagSafe is now included, enabling convenient wireless charging. It was absent in the previous generation. Wireless charging is rated at 15 W, while wired charging supports up to 27 W.

The iPhone 17e will be available in three matte finishes: black, white, and a new soft pink. Pricing starts at $599. Pre-orders open on March 4, with sales beginning on March 11.
