Since the introduction of the current-generation design language in 2018, the iPad Pro lineup has seen only minor revisions, remaining largely unchanged.
Mark Gurman, a journalist at Bloomberg, has reported that the upcoming year will be a "light year" for the iPad lineup, and that we shouldn't expect any significant updates to the iPad Pro, iPad mini, iPad Air, or entry-level iPad. However, he also notes that Apple is preparing a "major revamp" for the iPad Pro, which could include an updated design and the use of OLED displays, that may debut in the spring of 2024.
Gurman reports:
I don’t see any major updates coming in 2023 to the entry-level models, the iPad mini or the Air. The iPad Pro for sure isn’t getting anything of note this year. Instead, look for a major iPad Pro revamp next spring, complete with an updated design and OLED screens for the first time.
Rumors have been circulating about the design of the upcoming iPad Pro. Some sources suggest that Apple may switch from an aluminum unibody design to a glass back. Additionally, there have been reports that the company may introduce MagSafe charging technology, similar to the iPhone, to the iPad Pro lineup. Furthermore, it has been previously reported that Apple aims to implement OLED displays in the iPad Pro as early as next year. According to analyst Ross Young, the first iPad Pro with an OLED display is expected to be released in 2024 along with an OLED MacBook Air.
Rumors suggest that Apple may be looking to expand the iPad lineup with larger screen sizes, potentially as large as 14 or 16 inches. It is uncertain if these new sizes will be included in the upcoming iPad Pro update. As the target launch date for the new iPad Pro approaches in spring 2024, it is likely that more information will be leaked.
