Apple is preparing a major expansion of Siri that could allow the assistant to connect with multiple AI chatbots, according to Mark Gurman.
The update is expected to introduce a new Extensions system in iOS 27, enabling third-party AI assistants to integrate directly into Siri. Apple is also reportedly working on a dedicated App Store section for these integrations. As Gurman notes, “It will be a marketplace of sorts for third-party AI integrations.”
Rather than building a single all-purpose AI, Apple appears to be turning Siri into a gateway for multiple models. Services such as Google Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT could be available through Siri, with users choosing which assistant to use depending on the task. This would allow different AI tools to handle writing, research, coding or productivity workflows.
Alongside these integrations, Apple is reportedly developing a standalone Siri app for iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. The app would support both text and voice interactions and provide access to past conversations, bringing Siri closer to modern chatbot-style interfaces.
Gurman also expects a broader redesign of Siri. Apple is reportedly testing an updated interface that may integrate with Dynamic Island, along with a systemwide Ask Siri button across apps and a Write with Siri option above the keyboard.
It remains unclear whether the new Siri experience will be available on all devices running iOS 27 or limited to newer models that support Apple Intelligence, such as the iPhone 15 Pro and later.
