Apple has rolled out iOS 12.5.8 for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, MacRumors reports. The update was released alongside iOS 26.2.1 for newer devices.
The iPhone 5s launched in September 2013, while the iPhone 6 debuted in September 2014. Apple continues to support the smartphones 12 and 13 years after their market release.
The update extends the validity of key certificates until January 2027. Without it, services such as iMessage, FaceTime, and device activation would have stopped working.
The iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 last received updates in January 2023, when Apple delivered important security fixes.
In addition to iOS 12.5.8, Apple has also released updated versions of iOS 15.8.6, iOS 16, and iOS 18. iOS 15.8.6, for example, has been made available for the iPhone 6s, which launched 11 years ago — its previous security update was released in September 2025.
