OpenAI has announced plans to integrate Apple Music into its ChatGPT chatbot. The news was reported by 9to5Mac, citing a post by Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s Vice President of Product.

Users will be able to link their Apple Music accounts to ChatGPT and control music playback using natural language prompts. For example, they will be able to ask the chatbot to create playlists, play a movie soundtrack they can’t remember by name, or curate music based on mood or genre.

ChatGPT will not only suggest playlists but also play tracks directly within the chat interface. It remains unclear whether an active subscription will be required, though this is considered likely.

ChatGPT already supports Spotify integration. This is how it currently works:

Apple Music will be added to ChatGPT’s updated app catalog. Alongside Apple’s music service, the catalog will include integrations with Adobe, Salesforce, Replit, OpenTable, and other platforms.

The move is part of OpenAI’s strategy to create a more “dynamic AI experience,” in which the chatbot automatically pulls relevant tools into conversations.

A specific launch date has not yet been announced, but the feature is expected to roll out soon.
