Apple is preparing what could become “the most significant overhaul in the iPhone's history,” according to Mark Gurman, who shared new details in his Power On newsletter.
At the centre of this shift is Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone. According to Gurman, the device will reportedly open like a book, revealing a large inner display designed for watching videos, gaming and multitasking. Apple is also expected to adapt iOS 27 specifically for the foldable form factor, enabling side-by-side apps and multitasking features similar to those on the iPad.
Earlier reports suggest the foldable iPhone could feature a 7.7-inch internal display and a 5.3-inch outer screen. While initial rumours pointed to a virtually crease-free display, newer information indicates Apple is using technology that reduces the crease rather than eliminating it entirely.

Apple is expected to unveil the foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September. However, Gurman notes that the foldable model may ship later than the Pro devices.

Pricing is also expected to position the device as a premium product. Estimates suggest the foldable iPhone could start at $1,999 or higher in the U.S.
