At its fall event on September 9, Apple introduced the AirPods Pro 3.
Here’s everything new.
The new earbuds feature a noticeably slimmer body while keeping nearly the same external design. The earbuds themselves are also slightly smaller.
For the first time, the set includes five sizes of silicone tips, making AirPods Pro 3 the most customizable and comfortable model in the lineup. They also debut with water and dust resistance rated at IP57.
Apple has dramatically improved active noise cancellation — now four times more effective than the first-generation Pros and twice as effective as AirPods Pro 2.
Battery life with ANC enabled has increased by two hours compared to the previous generation, reaching eight hours. With ANC off, the earbuds last up to 10 hours.
One of the standout innovations is the integrated heart rate sensor, inspired by the Powerbeats Pro 2. AirPods Pro 3 can track heart rate across 15 different workout modes, eliminating the need for an Apple Watch for this purpose.
This addition makes AirPods Pro 3 a fully-fledged part of Apple’s health ecosystem.
Another major feature is their ability to function as clinical-grade hearing aids for users with hearing loss.
The earbuds use results from a built-in hearing test and can significantly assist those with impaired hearing.
The biggest software addition is real-time translation.
AirPods Pro 3 allow conversations between people speaking different languages: the iPhone translates speech on the fly, and if both participants are wearing the new AirPods, the dialogue flows naturally in both directions.
The charging case is now more compact and easier to carry, thanks to reduced dimensions.
Despite being an incremental update, AirPods Pro 3 are clearly designed to reinforce Apple’s leadership in the premium wireless earbuds market.
The new AirPods Pro 3 are available for preorder at $249, with global sales starting September 19. In Russia, they will arrive via parallel imports.
