Apple has opened its largest research and development lab outside the U.S. in Shenzhen, China, aimed at testing and developing the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro.

The 215,000 square-foot facility, located in the Greater Bay Area, is expected to eventually employ over 1,000 staff and expand further.

This lab marks a significant addition to Apple's existing R&D presence in China, even as the company has been shifting some production to other countries like India and Vietnam. However, recent setbacks in India may push Apple to return some iPhone production to China.
