Apple is reportedly planning a major design shift for its iPhone 16 lineup, including the introduction of a new Capture button and a unique approach to case compatibility.

According to recent leaks, the Capture button will feature a capacitive surface allowing users to swipe for zoom and press to focus or capture images. Positioned on the right-hand side of the iPhone 16, it replaces the mmWave 5G antenna found on the iPhone 15 models.

In terms of case design, Apple is said to be focusing on an “integrated design” that seamlessly accommodates the new Capture button without a dedicated cutout. This approach aims to preserve the button’s functionality while maintaining the sleek profile of the case. In contrast, third-party cases are expected to include specific cutouts for the Capture button.

Details on whether Apple will reintroduce its FineWoven cases for the iPhone 16 remain unclear.
