Apple developing new Magic Keyboard for iPad

Apple is reportedly working on a new, more affordable Magic Keyboard for the base model iPad and iPad Air, according to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter.

This new keyboard is expected to be a more budget-friendly alternative to the premium Magic Keyboard introduced for the iPad Pro earlier this year.

Unlike the high-end version, the new Magic Keyboard will likely feature a silicone material similar to older models, rather than the aluminum top case used in the latest iPad Pro keyboard. The new keyboard is expected to replace both the Magic Keyboard Folio, introduced in 2022, and the older Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air from 2020.

Gurman suggests that the new Magic Keyboard could be released around mid-2025, as part of Apple’s efforts to streamline its iPad accessory lineup.
