X introduces daily posting limits for non-premium accounts

X has updated the limits page in its help center, introducing new daily restrictions for accounts without an X Premium subscription. Non-paying users are now capped at 50 original posts and 200 replies per day.

The previous daily limit was 2,400 posts and applied to all users regardless of subscription status. The new restrictions went into effect around May 16, coinciding with widespread user reports of errors when attempting to publish posts.

The new rules introduce additional restrictions for unverified accounts beyond the posting cap. Non-Premium users are now limited to 500 direct messages per day and a maximum of 400 new follows in the same period.

X has framed the changes as a measure to maintain infrastructure reliability and reduce technical disruptions. The company has also indicated that the limits may be temporarily lowered further during periods of peak load. The restrictions apply across all devices and applications, including third-party clients accessing the platform through its API.
