TIME names the “Architects of AI” as 2025 Person of the Year

TIME magazine has announced its 2025 Person of the Year.
The title went not to an individual, but to a group of visionaries the publication calls The Architects of AI, according to the magazine’s special issue.

TIME notes that in 2025, debates about technological safety ultimately gave way to a global race to deploy AI at scale.

The list of those shaping this new reality includes:

  • Jensen Huang (CEO, Nvidia), whose company became the first in the world to reach a 5 trillion USD market cap.
  • Sam Altman (CEO, OpenAI), who transformed the company into a 500-billion-dollar giant and launched Stargate, a 500-billion-dollar data-center initiative.
  • Mark Zuckerberg (CEO, Meta), who aggressively pushed AI assistants across Instagram, WhatsApp, and other Meta products, while attracting top engineers with large compensation packages.
  • Elon Musk (CEO, X), credited for developing the Grok AI model.
  • Lisa Su (CEO, AMD), now leading the effort to build a software ecosystem capable of competing with Nvidia.
  • Demis Hassabis (CEO, Google DeepMind).
  • Dario Amodei (CEO, Anthropic).
  • Fei-Fei Li (CEO, ImageNet).

According to TIME, AI has become a central instrument of geopolitics, and the arms race between the United States and China has intensified following the release of breakthrough models from China’s DeepSeek.
