Wallet in Telegram rebrands as Walt ahead of Gram Wallet rollout

Wallet in Telegram has been renamed Walt as The Open Platform prepares to separate its crypto products inside the messaging app, with Gram Wallet set to take the former Wallet's place in Telegram's settings.

Existing Wallet users do not need to move their accounts or assets. Walt is the same service under a new name, with balances, wallet addresses, transaction history and settings preserved. The app is now available through @walt, while the existing @wallet address will continue to work.

The Open Platform founder and CEO Andrew Rogozov said Walt and Gram Wallet will develop as separate products aimed at different types of users. Gram Wallet is designed as a simpler, built-in wallet for Telegram's broader audience, while Walt will remain a more comprehensive crypto platform.

Walt will continue to offer cryptocurrency trading, investment products, multichain assets and cross-chain transfers. The company also plans to add AI-powered trading, allowing users to trade through AI agents in chat and beyond Telegram, as well as crypto cards for everyday payments.

Gram Wallet, meanwhile, will focus on everyday activity within Telegram. Users will be able to buy and use Gram, send gifts, purchase Stars, transfer funds to other users and pay for goods and services inside the app.

The rebrand changes Wallet's name, logo and Telegram accounts, but not the underlying service.

“Everything else stays the same. Your funds, your account, your settings, and the way you access your wallet. There is nothing to migrate and nothing you need to do,” Rogozov said.

The change also explains why Wallet recently disappeared from Telegram's settings. Walt will remain available as a separate service inside Telegram, while Gram Wallet is expected to take over its previous position in the app.
