Which devices will get iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate

Following WWDC 2026, Apple has published the official list of devices that will receive its new operating systems this fall.

The picture is a comfortable one for iPhone owners, but the rest of Apple's lineup faces noticeably tighter cutoffs.

iPhone

The news is positive for users who have been holding on to older devices. iOS 27 supports the same lineup of iPhones as iOS 26, with the update available on every model from the iPhone 11 onward.

Supported models:

  • iPhone SE (3rd generation)
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max

iPad

iPadOS 27 takes a much harder line, with Apple dropping support for several older generations at once. The update will not be available on the iPad 8th generation and earlier, iPad mini 5th generation, iPad Air 3rd generation, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation, and iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation.

Supported models:

  • iPad Pro M4 and newer

  • iPad (A16)
  • iPad (9th generation and newer)
  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)

Apple Watch

The toughest cut is on the Apple Watch side. watchOS 27 drops support for several models at once, including the Apple Watch Series 8, the first-generation Ultra, the second-generation SE, and any older devices. The change marks the most significant reduction in supported hardware in Apple Watch's history.

Supported models:

  • Apple Watch Series 9
  • Apple Watch Series 10
  • Apple Watch Series 11
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2
  • Apple Watch Ultra 3
  • Apple Watch SE (3rd generation)

Mac

macOS Golden Gate marks a turning point for the Mac lineup. It is the first version of macOS to fully drop support for Intel-based machines. All Intel Macs, including the 2019 and 2020 MacBook Pro and the 2020 iMac, will not receive the update. Apple Silicon is now required.

Supported models:

  • MacBook Air with Apple Silicon (2020 and newer)
  • MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon (2020 and newer)
  • Mac mini with Apple Silicon (2020 and newer)
  • iMac with Apple Silicon (2021 and newer)

  • MacBook Neo (2026)
