Gurman: Apple is preparing a foldable iPhone, smart glasses, camera-equipped AirPods, and a home robot

Apple is gearing up for one of the busiest product cycles in its history. Over the next two to three years, the company is expected to launch new iPhones, AirPods, Apple Watches, iPads, Macs, smart glasses, and several entirely new categories of devices, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter.
The first major announcements are expected as soon as this fall. Gurman believes Apple will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone, which he informally refers to as the "iPhone Ultra." The company could also introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 alongside the new smartphones.
- Apple is also expected to release several new Macs and an updated entry-level iPad before the end of 2026. The tablet is reportedly set to gain support for Apple Intelligence thanks to a more powerful processor.
- Gurman also says Apple may finally unveil its long-rumored smart home hub this year. Another possible launch is a new iPad mini featuring an OLED display.
- The company is testing updated versions of Apple TV and HomePod mini with Apple Intelligence support. Major hardware changes are not expected, though both devices are likely to gain compatibility with the new Siri, while Apple TV could receive a redesigned remote control.
According to Gurman, 2027 could be an even more important year for Apple as the iPhone approaches its 20th anniversary.
In spring 2027, Apple may release a second-generation iPhone Air. The device is expected to feature improved battery life and a second rear camera, addressing two of the biggest criticisms of the current model.
The company's most significant launches are expected later that year. Apple is reportedly preparing anniversary iPhones that could be called the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max, alongside a second-generation foldable iPhone.
Apple is also expected to introduce AirPods equipped with cameras in 2027. The cameras would not be used for taking photos or videos, but rather for providing visual information to Siri and Apple's AI systems.
Another major product on the roadmap is Apple's first pair of smart glasses. The device was reportedly once targeted for late 2026, but Gurman now expects it to arrive closer to the end of 2027.
Bloomberg also predicts the launch of a desktop robot in late 2027 or 2028. The product is described as a smart home display mounted on a robotic arm. Further out, Apple continues to work on future versions of Vision headsets and fully fledged augmented reality glasses.
