Apple upgrades the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 and its fastest CPU core yet

Apple has introduced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6, upgrading its processor and wireless connectivity.
The M6 features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, adding two cores to each compared with M5. Apple describes its new CPU core as the world’s fastest and says the laptop delivers up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster performance in on-device AI workloads than its M5 predecessor.
Dedicated AI accelerators sit in every GPU core, alongside a dual 16-core Neural Engine that Apple says is up to 1.9 times faster than M5’s. These components help accelerate image generation, image enhancement and other AI tasks running directly on the laptop. In Apple’s application tests, the new MacBook Pro also rendered scenes in Blender and built projects in Xcode up to 30% faster than the M5 model.
The base configuration includes 16GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD, with options for up to 32GB of memory and 4TB of storage. Apple rates battery life at up to 24 hours of video streaming, matching the longest battery life it has offered in a Mac, or up to 16 hours of wireless web browsing. Fast charging can restore up to 50% in 30 minutes with a compatible higher-wattage USB-C adapter, such as Apple’s 96W model.
The laptop retains its 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz and peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits. An optional nano-texture finish reduces reflections, and the 12-megapixel Center Stage camera keeps users in frame during video calls.
Wireless connectivity moves to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Physical connections include three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, an SD card slot, a headphone jack and MagSafe charging, with support for up to two external displays. Full configurations are listed in Apple’s technical specifications.
The M6 MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 in the US and comes in silver and space black. Preorders begin October 28, with deliveries and in-store availability scheduled for November 6.
