20 last-minute details about Apple’s new products emerge ahead of the event

Ahead of Apple’s fall event, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared a fresh round of details about the devices expected to be announced today.

Some of the information is new, while other details have surfaced before and are now being reinforced ahead of the launch. Gurman’s latest report covers the expected name, pricing and specifications of Apple’s first foldable iPhone, along with new details on the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, Apple Watch and AirPods. 

• Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to be called iPhone Duo. The device may also support Apple Pencil and could go on sale as early as October. 
• The foldable is expected to launch in at least two colors, white and dark blue. The base model will reportedly come with 256GB of storage and start at $1,999 in the US. 
• Inside, Apple is expected to use the A20 Pro chip and its own C2 5G modem. The rear camera system is said to include two 48MP sensors, with no dedicated telephoto lens. 
• Gurman also shared new details about the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. A dark red finish is reportedly planned for the lineup, along with longer battery life — particularly on the Pro Max — and an improved vapor chamber cooling system. 
• At least one iPhone 18 Pro camera could feature a variable aperture, giving users more control over depth of field. 
• Prices may rise as well. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start at $1,199 in the US, while the Pro Max could begin at $1,299, $100 more than last year’s models. 
• Apple is also expected to shrink the Dynamic Island on the Pro models. The smaller cutout could display up to three Live Activities at once, compared with two today. 
• The standard iPhone 18 is unlikely to appear at today’s event. According to Gurman, Apple has pushed its launch to the first quarter of 2027. 
• Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are also expected. Both could receive new case colors, while the Series 12 may add a ceramic version and the Ultra 4 is reportedly getting longer battery life. 
• Apple may also introduce a new Readiness app for Apple Watch, along with a daily health summary feature. 
• AirPods 5 are expected in two versions, one with active noise cancellation and one without.
