Artifact, the personalized news aggregator developed by Instagram's co-founders, is expanding its functionality with a new feature called "Links."

This feature allows users to share web links to create personalized feeds based on their interests. Users can share a URL, which will be presented as a visual feed within the app's new "Links" tab, offering additional links based on their preferences.

In addition to sharing links, Artifact users can add captions or images to enhance their posts, turning them into creators within the app. The app will also display posted links to relevant users to help creators build an audience. The feature provides creative tools for image editing, caption writing assistance using Artifact's AI, and the ability to share quotes from articles by highlighting text.

Artifact's Links feature puts it in competition with social apps that allow sharing of text or links, such as X or Threads, as well as content curation platforms like Flipboard and Pinterest. Users can follow creators with social profiles on Artifact, and their posts will appear in a "Following" section.

To address potential content quality issues, Artifact employs AI for content moderation, using third-party services to detect and filter out inappropriate content. Additionally, a manual review process, both crowdsourced and monitored by the team, helps maintain content quality.

The Links feature is available on iOS and Android, with Android posting functionality coming soon.
