WhatsApp has announced the global expansion of its WhatsApp Channels feature, bringing this private broadcast service to over 150 countries.

WhatsApp Channels provides users with a way to receive updates from thousands of organizations, sports teams, artists, and thought leaders in a discreet and private manner, separate from their regular chats.

With WhatsApp Channels, users can follow channels of their choice, and this information is kept private; other followers cannot see who they are following. The service also ensures the protection of personal information for both channel administrators and followers.

The expansion of WhatsApp Channels includes several new features and improvements. An enhanced directory allows users to discover channels based on their country, with filters for new, active, and popular channels based on the number of followers. Users can now react to channel updates using emojis, and the total count of reactions is displayed without revealing individual reactions.

Administrators will soon be able to edit their updates for up to 30 days before automatic deletion from WhatsApp servers. Additionally, forwarded updates will include a link back to the channel, making it easy for users to find more information.

WhatsApp plans to further enhance Channels based on user feedback and will eventually allow anyone to create a channel. This expansion aims to provide a secure and private way for users to stay informed and engaged with various organizations and individuals across the globe.
